Government funded courses FAQs

Who funds Free Courses in England?

The free courses we offer are UK government-funded in the form of the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) and the Adult Skills Fund (ASF), formerly known as the Adult Education Budget (AEB).

What is a UK government funded course?

Through government funding we are able to offer free online courses in a variety of in-demand subjects including CPD, mental health, business, IT and health and social care to name just a few.

The free online courses are all accredited by either NCFE or TQUK. Successful learners will be awarded a level 2 qualification and certificate.

What is the Adult Education Budget (AEB)?

The Adult Education Budget (AEB) funds a range of accredited programs ultimately giving Free Courses in England access to NCFE CACHE & TQUK branded courses, meaning learners gain qualifications from the specific sector.

By utilising training providers and colleges, they can fund the delivery of education and training for adult learners aged 19+.

The AEB sets the aim to provide facilities and funding to enhance engaged adults in the following ways:

  • Increase Health and Social Care and Awareness
  • Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • Improve Digital and Media Skills
  • Refresh the skills of individuals
  • Prepare adults for the workplace
  • Support career changes

Refreshing skills of an employer’s current workforce and improving their progression opportunities are viewed as significant factors, by the government, in allowing individuals to progress in their lives and careers.

Are Free Courses in England accredited?

All of the free online courses we offer are accredited by either NCFE CACHE or TQUK.

All qualifications and certificates are nationally recognised and regulated by Ofqual.

Can I get course funding on Universal Credit?

Yes! All of our free courses are available to adults on Universal Credit and are increasingly popular amongst unemployed adults looking to get into work.

Can you get jobs with online courses?

Absolutely! In today’s fast-paced, digital world, online courses have become a popular alternative to traditional classroom learning.

An increasing number of employers now recognise the value of online courses, as they not only showcase a candidate’s willingness to learn but also demonstrate their ability to manage time effectively, work independently, and adapt to new technologies.

Online courses often provide valuable skills and knowledge that can set candidates apart from others in the job market. Additionally, many online courses offer certification programs that can provide an extra edge when applying for jobs.

Are online courses respected?

Online courses have gained significant popularity in recent years due to their convenience, flexibility, and affordability. Many employers are recognising the benefits of hiring individuals who have completed online courses, as they demonstrate initiative, self-discipline, and a commitment to lifelong learning.
