About the Team Leading Course

Strong team leadership is essential for providing guidance, direction and instruction within a group and inevitably leads to more effective teamwork and more motivated employees.

Being able to manage a team effectively is critical in the current job market, where employee productivity and team outcomes are closely monitored.

The objectives of this qualification are to help staff to:

Principles of team leading

This unit provides learners with an understanding of leadership styles in organisations. Learners will develop knowledge of team dynamics and the techniques used to manage the work of teams.

Learners will also gain an appreciation of the impact of change management and how a motivated team affects an organisation.

Understand business

This unit equips learners with an understanding of organisational structures and the business environment. Learners will also gain knowledge of business reporting within an organisation.

This unit equips learners with an understanding of the principles and techniques of work-related communication both verbally and in writing.

Learners will also develop the knowledge of a range of documents required for different types of meetings in a business environment.

Performance and conflict

This unit enables learners to develop knowledge of team performance management through benchmarking.

Learners will develop knowledge of managing individual underperformance and conflict in the workplace.

Understand customers

This unit provides learners with an understanding of the different types of customers.

Learners will understand the relationship between good customer service and customer loyalty and how this affects the organisation in terms of reputation and image.

Customer service problems

This unit equips learners with an understanding of customer service delivery and the relationship between customer service and brand.

Learners will be able to identify the techniques used to resolve customer service problems.

Equality and diversity in the workplace

This unit develops learners’ understanding of standards and expectations for equality and diversity in the workplace.

Learners will be able to identify the potential consequences for failing to comply with relevant legislation.

Working relationships with colleagues

This unit provides learners with an understanding of the principles of effective team working.

Learners will be able to identify what is required to develop working relationships with other teams and departments.

Health and safety procedures

This unit aims to provide learners with an understanding of individual health and safety responsibilities and laws affecting the workplace.

Develop and deliver a presentation

This unit equips learners with the principles underpinning the development and delivery of presentations.

Learners will describe the advantages and limitations of various forms of media. Learners will also describe factors affecting contingency plans and different methods of evaluating presentations.

Introduction to coaching

This unit aims to provide learners with an introduction to coaching.

Learners will explore the concept of coaching and how it can be used within the workplace to improve performance.

Introduction to mentoring

This unit aims to provide learners with an understanding of effective mentoring.

Learners will explore the role and benefits of mentoring and the use of tools and skills to support the mentoring process.

Understand personal development

This unit aims to give learners an understanding of the role of a team leader and how to plan for personal development.

Is the course definitely free?

If staff meet the eligibility criteria then YES!

We connect you with learning providers that use government funding, in the form of the Education & Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) and the Adult Educational Budget (AEB).

When can staff start the free online course?

We hope to get staff started within 24 hours of completing the full enrolment process but this can vary depending on the learning provider.

Register interest and a course advisor will be in touch to provide you with more specific details.

How long will the free online course take?

The courses are designed to allow staff to fit their learning around their employment obligations and can be completed in a number of weeks or months, depending on the level.

Our shorter courses are often completed within 3 weeks, whilst our longer lasting courses can take up to 3 months.

Is it all online?

Yes! All of our free courses are 100% online.

Is the qualification nationally recognised?

All of our courses are accredited by UK government-recognised awarding bodies. These include NCFE CACHE and TQUK, with whom we work closely to ensure our existing courses, and all new ones, meet approved standards of excellence and are certified as such. NCFE CACHE and TQUK are national awarding organisations that design, develops and certifies nationally recognised qualifications and awards.

All qualifications are regulated by Ofqual.

How many free online courses can staff take?

Staff can only take one course at a time but you can take up to 7 in one academic year.

Do staff need to sit an Exam?

No, there are no exams, all courses require you to complete assessment questions based on the knowledge staff have just gained from the units.

Why are staff required to upload such personal information?

The courses we offer are all funded qualifications, meaning staff need to be eligible for government funding in order to secure your a place.

This information is a funding requirement and proves staff eligibility.
