About this free online course

By completing the free online safeguarding training course, learners will develop knowledge of safeguarding in an environment where they have a duty of care.

In today’s society, it is crucial for individuals who are interested in working in various sectors including local authorities, schools, colleges, uniformed services, or health and social care to have a thorough understanding of safeguarding and Prevent duty.

The concept of safeguarding encompasses promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and preventing them from harm or neglect. Additionally, Prevent duty is the legal obligation for institutions to take steps toward preventing individuals from being drawn into terrorism or radicalisation.

This level 2, free online course will give you a greater awareness of safeguarding and the Prevent duty, the responsibilities and procedures involved, and how to raise concerns effectively.

In the year ending 31 March 2023, there were 6,817 referrals to Prevent. This is an increase of 6.4% compared to the previous year.
