Charlotte’s Story
Charlotte has been able to put the practical solutions she has learned into practice…
Our free online children’s mental health course has been instrumental in providing Laura with a comprehensive understanding of the various signs and symptoms associated with mental health challenges in children.
Laura’s experience with the course has been incredibly beneficial, as it has provided her with the knowledge necessary to effectively support young people who may be experiencing mental health difficulties.
By taking the course, Laura has been able to gain valuable skills and insights into mental health, equipping her with the tools necessary to appropriately intervene and support children in need.
Watch our short video below where we asked a collection of Free Courses in England learners, “What impact has your course had on your life?”…
My name is Laura, and I’m a Pediatric Physician Associate, which I’ve been doing for around 3 years.
I’ve recently completed the Children’s and Young People’s Mental Health course. I wanted to do this course because, working in paediatrics, I noticed a lot of mental health concerns in young people that i wasn’t equipped for and didn’t know how to deal with, so I wanted to learn more and see if there was anything I could do to improve my knowledge and support young people.
This course has massively impacted my working life because now I feel that I am better equipped to deal with them, spotting signs of mental health and helping deal with that, whether that is supporting the young person or advocating for them.
The knowledge gained from this course has definitely helped me. Before I would see signs of someone struggling with their mental health and I wouldn’t know what to do, I would back away from that situation and find someone else and ask them to support the young person rather than doing it myself because I just didn’t feel that I knew how to deal with them or what was best to do.
This course has given me a better understanding of the signs and symptoms of mental health in children and young people, it has definitely helped me then go ahead and support these people, advocate for them and push them in the right direction of where that support and the signposting of where to go and who they need to speak to.
I have really enjoyed my online learning, I have found that it really suits my busy lifestyle. I work full time, so to be able to study first thing in the morning, on my lunch break (which I regularly did!) after work, on weekends, it really did suit me.
I would recommend this course to all of my colleagues because I feel that it has really given me a better understanding of children’s mental health, and it’s something that we are seeing so much more of at the moment.
This course has definitely given me the power to get more involved and not back down and pass the job on to someone else. I feel we should all be doing this and have the knowledge of mental health and how to support people.
