The aim of the free online domestic abuse course is to increase learners’ awareness and understanding of domestic abuse and its impact. The objective is to support those in the workplace who may work with, support, or interact with people at risk of, or experiencing, domestic abuse.
This online qualification is for anyone who has a responsibility to respond to domestic abuse or support those experiencing domestic abuse.
This includes employers, teachers, health and social care workers, and anyone involved in safeguarding vulnerable adults, children, or young people.
Although it is often an under-reported crime, most cases of domestic abuse are kept hidden.
The Domestic Abuse Act makes prosecuting domestic abuse more straightforward and offers more protection to those who are being abused, but cases still need to be identified and responses need to be effective.

In this unit the learner will gain knowledge and understanding of the impact of domestic abuse on children, family members, support service providers and society.
In this unit the learner will gain knowledge and understanding of legislation and policy, multi-agency working, intervention and sources of support and information in relation to domestic abuse.

Understanding Domestic Abuse is a level 2 qualification.
The qualification is accredited by NCFE CACHE and regulated by Ofqual.
